(Eagle News)–The number of coronavirus disease 2019 cases in the Philippine National Police is nearing the 500 mark.
The PNP said the 499 confirmed cases were as of June 21, 6 p.m.
The death toll rose to eight, with 288 recoveries.
Suspected cases are at 875, while probable cases are at 661.
Earlier, PNP Chief Archie Gamboa condoled with the kin of two Cebu city policemen who passed away due to COVID-19.
Cebu City reverted as an enhanced community quarantine area starting June 15, following the continued rise in COVID-19 cases there.
There are more restrictions in ECQ areas, with only a few industries allowed to operate.
The Palace has said, however, that Metro Manila remains the epicenter of the virus so far.
Metro Manila is under a more relaxed general community quarantine until June 30.
