Suspected Pampanga “ninja cop” Baloyo could be detained at NBP jail until June 2022, says Gordon

(Eagle News) – In an isolated cell guarded 24/7 by prison guards, suspected Pampanga ninja cop Major Rodney Baloyo wears a loose white T-shirt with no clothes to spare.

The 2.5 meter by 3 meter cell at the New Bilibid Prison’s Reception and Diagnostic Center is Baloyo’s new home, for now, after he was cited in contempt at the Senate Blue Ribbon Committee hearing for “lying.”

According to the Bureau of Correction on Friday, Oct. 4, since Baloyo was brought to the NBP on Thursday night by the Senate Sergeant at Arms, he has not had a change of clothes.

He had only removed his police uniform.

He was given hygiene kits and underwent medical assessment before he was locked in jail.

Baloyo also ate whatever BuCor employees had managed to gather and share for him.

This is because he is still not among the prisoners who had been provided budget for food under the so-called “subsistence allowance.”

Atty. Wena Fe Dalagan, BuCor spokesperson, said that in case of health issues, Baloyo can be brought to the NBP hospital.

But for now, he has to stay in jail which already has a toilet.  It has one electric fan for ventilation.

Only immediate family members, and his lawyer or any religious representative, can visit the detained Baloyo.

Senator Richard Gordon, chair of the Senate Blue Ribbon Committee, said that Baloyo will stay in jail if he doesn’t talk and tell the truth about the controversial Mexico, Pampanga raid in November 2013 where policemen only declared more than 30 kilos of some 200 kilos of shabu they had seized.

Gordon said the police major could even be detained at the NBP until the 18th Congress goes on sine die adjournment in June 2022.

Kung sino ang behind it (2013 Pampanga drug raid), he should say it. Baloyo is not that smart to do it. Depende, sa kanya yan. Pero, I don’t want to teach him. Gagamitin pa niya yan, baka laruin pa kmi niyan e,” the senator said.

“But I think he’s a simpleton. Alam niya ang nangyari e, tapos yung mga palusot niya huli lahat e,” he added.

Baloyo is the second resource person of the Senate to be detained at the NBP after being cited in contempt for lying.

The first one sent to NBP for detention was French national Jean Arnault on May 15, 1950 for refusing to name those who had been paid P440,00 in the investigation of the Buenavista-Tambobong deal which lasted for five years.
