(Eagle News) — The Philippine government is pushing a possible partnership on technology and infrastructure with the Israeli government, according to Finance Secretary Carlos Dominguez.
“There are ample opportunities for bilateral cooperation between the Philippines and Israel in the technology and construction sectors. We have invited Israeli experts in these fields to visit the Philippines to explore possible cooperation arrangements,” Dominguez in a statement.
Dominguez, who already met with Israeli Ambassador Rafael Harpaz, said the partnership aims to strengthen the capabilities of the Philippine on the big ticket infrastructure projects and the digital innovations that would help to improve the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas’ cyber security system.
The Finance chief said that he and Ambassador Harpaz also discussed putting up a financial protocol that would allow the two nations to share notes and strategies on eco-friendly construction.
At least 10 Israeli companies were interested to invest in New Clark City in Pampanga, an emerging business hub in Northern Luzon.
Dominguez stressed that the Israel-Philippine partnership on technology and construction would help the infrastructure projects of the government, especially on the Build, Build, Build program of the current administration.
Israel’s cybersecurity innovations can also help the Philippines facilitate trade and expand access to credit, especially with the increasing use of electronic payments systems. (with a report from Earlo Bringas)
