Palace announces work suspension for gov’t offices, SUCs on Jan. 2

(Eagle News) – Malacanang announced suspension of work in government office and in state universities and colleges (SUCs) on January 2.

In Memorandum Circular 54, Executive Secretary Salvador Medialdea directed the suspension of work in government offices, including government-owned or controlled corporations, government financial institutions, state universities and colleges, local government units, and other agencies and instrumentalities on January 2, Wednesday.

Medialdea said that only “those agencies whose functions include the delivery of basic and health services, preparedness/response to disasters and calamities, and/or the performance of other vital services shall continue with their operations and render the necessary services.”

The circular said that suspension of work on January in other branches of government and in independent commissions or bodies, as well as in private companies and offices, is “left to the sound discretion” of their respective heads or management.
