
(Eagle News) — After making landfall in Isabela early this morning, Typhoon Rosita (Yutu) is in the vicinity of of Bambang, Nueva Vizcaya and is heading towards Benguet.
Seven provinces in Luzon were still under signal number 3. They are Nueva Vizcaya, Ifugao, Benguet, Ilocos Sur, Mountain Province, Pangasinan and La Union.
Twelve more areas in Luzon were under signal number 2: Cagayan, Isabela, Quirino, Aurora, Ilocos Norte, Apayao, Abra, Kalinga, Tarlac, Nueva Ecija, Zambales, and Pampanga.
The typhoon made landfall in Dinapigue, Isabela as of 5 a.m., with maximum sustained winds of 150 kilometers per hour near the center and gustiness of up to 210 kph.
But as of the 11 a.m. update of PAGASA, the typhoon’s maximum sustained winds were down to140 kph near the center. Its gusts however increased to 230 kph.
-Typhoon located over Nueva Vizcaya-
As of 10 a.m. today, the eye of typhoon “Rosita” was located based on all available data including Baguio Radar at In the vicinity of Bambang, Nueva Vizcaya (16.4 °N, 121.2 °E ), according to PAGASA, the country’s weather bureau.
Typhoon Rosita is moving west southwest at 25 kph, and will traverse over Benguet, La Union and Pangasinan.
Stormy weather will be felt over the areas under signal number 3 and 2. Travel by land is risky over these areas, said PAGASA.
Moderate to heavy rains are forecast over Northern and Central Luzon.
“Residents in these areas, especially those living near river channels, in low-lying areas and mountainous areas, are advised to take appropriate actions against possible flooding and landslides, coordinate with the local disaster risk reduction and management offices,” PAGASA said in its update.
-Storm surge still possible-
“Storm surge of up to 3 meters is possible over the coastal areas of Ilocos Sur, Ilocos Norte, La Union and Pangasinan,” it said.
Signal number 1 is hoisted over Metro Manila, Babuyan group of Islands, Rizal, Laguna, Batangas, Bataan, Cavite, Bulacan, Northern Quezon including Polillo Island.
PAGASA has advised fisherfolks and those with small seacrafts not to venture out over the seaboards of areas with tropical cyclone warning signals and the eastern and western seaboards of Southern Luzon.
Typhoon Rosita is expected to exit landmass this afternoon. It will leave the Philippine Area of Responsibility tomorrow evening, Wednesday, Oct. 31.
