Authorities discovered a “mini-plantation” of marijuana in Marikina on Thursday, June 7./EPD/

(Eagle News) — A “mini-plantation” of  marijuana was discovered by authorities in Marikina City on Thursday, June 7.

Two people, Miguel Joseph Arias and Danica Joyce Tapar, were arrested following the discovery of the plantation in SSS Village, Barangay Concepcion that housed P4 million worth of marijuana at 10 p.m.

A 17-year-old was also placed under custody.

Marikina City Police Chief Sr. Supt. Roger Quesada said the discovery was made after Arias transacted with a poseur-buyer in the area.

He said 800 grams of suspected marijuana leaves with fruiting tops, 31 pots of grown marijuana plants, three medium-sized pots of grown marijuana, five small glasses of grown marijuana, one plastic sealer, three jars containing dried marijuana leaves, one digital weighing scale, and two P500 bills used as buy-bust money, among others, were recovered.

The two suspects are slated to face criminal charges.

The minor will be turned over to the Department of Social Welfare and Development.
