9 illegal immigrants nabbed in Manila, Pasay to be deported

(Eagle News) — The Bureau of Immigration (BI) will deport the nine illegal foreign workers in Pasay and Manila who had no working permits.

Immigration Commissioner Jaime Morente said the nine foreign nationals are now undergoing deportation proceedings for violating the country’s immigration laws.

“We will deport them for blatantly violating our immigration laws. Foreigners are prohibited in engaging in any gainful activity without the proper visas,” Morente said in a statement.

Four of the nine foreign nationals were arrested in Manila City Plaza Mall in Quiapo, Manila, while the five others were arrested in two different shopping centers in Pasay City.

The illegal aliens were caught by the immigration officials selling retail goods.

They are identified as Cai Shaoqiu, Cai Shengfeng, Tian Changsheng, She Lijuan, Lin Manyi, Zeng Xinfu, Xiao Jinxiang, Zhang Yang Sheng, and Chichi Zhuang.

Morente said most of the arrested foreigners failed to submit immigration documents, while one of them submitted a fake immigration document. Another one used a fake identity.

“In fact, during the check, one of them presented a counterfeit immigration document, while another may have assumed someone else’s identity as he had no record of arrival,” he said.
