(Eagle News) — Three children are in critical condition after being trapped inside a house in Caloocan that caught fire on Friday, Feb. 1.
Authorities said Cedric James Valero, 8; Chloe Valero, 6; and Alexandra Valero, 4; were rushed to a nearby hospital after they sustained burns from a fire that hit their rented house in Barangay Bagong Barrio past midnight.
Apart from the rented house, a clothing store was also affected by the blaze.
According to authorities, the children had been locked inside the house while their father bought food for them.
The initial cause of the fire was a candle left unattended in the Valeros’ rented house.
Authorities are determining the damage to property at press time.
