3 gold medals for Team Philippines in SEA Games

(Eagle News) – The Philipines now has three gold medals after the win today by Nico Bryan Huelgas and Kim Mangrobang in the men’s and women’s triathlon, respectively.

The two golds bagged on Monday, August 21, came after Saturday’s first gold medal win for the Philippines by Cebuana and former Rio Olympics athlete Mary Joy Tabal, in the marathon event, with a time of 2 hours, 48 minutes and 24 seconds.

Huelgas, who also won the triathlon event in Singapore in 2015, got the gold in the men’s triathlon in Kuala Lumpur with a time of 1:59:30.

Another Filipino triathlete, John Chicano, won the silver, in the same event.

Mangrobang finished first in the women’s triathlon, with another Filipina triathlete, Claire Adorna winning the silver medal.

In the 2015 SEA games, Adorna bagged the gold, while Mangrobang got the silver.
