Authorities on Wednesday night arrested two people allegedly selling banned fireworks without the necessary permits, and another for buying the contraband.

Arrested in an entrapment operation organized by the Quezon City Police District Special Operations Unit around 8 p.m. were sellers Alvin Abainza and Danilo Dee, and their customer, Maria Celeste Catahan.

Catahan had just bought P97,989 worth of banned fireworks from Abainza and Dee when police pounced on them in a popular fastfood establishment on Mindanao Ave.

The fireworks–which QCPD director Chief Supt. Guillermo Eleazar said included Sawa, Whistle Bomb, among others—-were also confiscated by the police.

According to QCPD director Chief Supt. Guillermo Eleazar, Abainza and Dee did not have the necessary permits to sell the fireworks.

Charges for violation of the city ordinance will be filed against the suspects, who are detained in Camp Karingal.
