Tennis superstar Roger Federer has confirmed he would not be playing in the French Open.

In a Facebook post, the Swiss said he decided to skip the tournament because he was preparing for his next games on the grass and on the hard court.

The French Open is set to begin on May 27.

Federer won the Australian Open last January.

He did not play for six months since then because of a leg injury.
