146 more Filipinos abroad contract COVID-19

(Eagle News) — Over 100 more Filipinos abroad have tested positive for COVID-19.

According to Department of Foreign Affairs recent data, the additional 146 cases pushed the COVID-19 cases among Filipinos abroad to 16569.

“To date, the total number of countries and territories with confirmed cases among Filipinos abroad is now at 91, following new reports received from a country in Asia and the Pacific,” the DFA said.

Nine more fatalities were reported, also pushing the deaths among overseas Filipinos due to COVID-19 to 1058.

Recoveries are now at 10065 after seven more recovered.

According to DFA data, the Middle East and Africa are still the regions with the most COVID-19 cases, recoveries and deaths among Filipinos abroad, at 9078, 4963, and 682, respectively.

The Americas have the least COVID-19 cases and recoveries, at 906 and 602, respectively.

The DFA data said the Asia Pacific region has the least COVID-19 deaths among Filipinos abroad, at 23.

“The DFA, together with its Foreign Service Posts, continues to partner with host governments to ensure the safety and well-being of our nationals abroad amidst the pandemic,” the department said.
