(Eagle News)–Authorities on Monday, Oct. 21, nabbed 12 alleged fixers in a barangay in Quezon City.
In a statement, the Land Transportation Office said the suspects, who were not identified, were arrested in Barangay Pinyahan following complaints against them on social media.
LTO Law Enforcement Service Acting Director Clarence Guinto said the suspects, who operated in the barangay where they were arrested, would “approach LTO clients and act as if they belong to an LTO help desk, a part of the agency.”
Guinto said that the LTO-Philippine National Police team that conducted the operation has already confiscated the tarpaulins used by suspects, who face charges for violations of the Anti-Red Tape Law, and the Quezon City Anti-Fixing Ordinance, among others, and for usurpation of authority.
Guinto said the suspects would be interrogated to help determine their LTO contacts.
LTO Assistant Secretary Edgar Galvante hailed the arrest of the suspects.
Guinto, for his part, urged the public not to transact with fixers.
“They will not facilitate the processing of your transaction. They will only give you trouble eventually. Transact at legitimate LTO counters only,” Guinto said.
