100 female soldiers, police for Marawi deployment

At least 100 enlisted and non-commissioned female personnel coming from the Armed Forces of the Philippines and the Philippine National Police will be deployed to Marawi City.

AFP public affairs chief Colonel Edgard Arevalo said the deployment of an all-female group of military and police  is to give a “feminine touch” to the ongoing crisis in Marawi City.

He also said the battle area is predominantly male already so the Armed Forces and the PNP thought about deploying female personnel for the “feminine touch” especially since  the reconstruction and rehabilitation phase is underway.

The group of 100 female soldiers and policewomen will be composed of 40 from the military while around 60 will be coming from the PNP.

Arevalo said the female soldiers and police women have been undergoing training since Monday.

They are expected to end their training on August 25.
