Weather disturbance monitored by PAGASA intensifies into severe tropical storm

“Wutip” still outside PAR, though

(Eagle News)–The weather disturbance being monitored by the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration has intensified.

In a weather update around 5 a.m., PAGASA said “Wutip” was now a severe tropical storm as of 3 a.m.

So far though, “Wutip” was still outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility, 2775 kilometers east of Mindanao, packing maximum sustained winds of up to 105 kilometers per hour, and gustiness of up to 130 kilometers per hour.

“Wutip” is moving in a northwest direction, at 20 kilometers per hour.

PAGASA said a northeasterly surface windflow is affecting Luzon and Visayas, causing partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains in Bicol Region, Visayas, and the provinces of Aurora, Quezon, and in Metro Manila.

In Mindanao, partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers caused byL localized thunderstorms will prevail, PAGASA said.
