“Weakened” typhoon Rosita exits La Union, to leave PHL tomorrow afternoon (Oct. 31)

(Eagle News) — Typhoon Rosita (Yutu) has exited land as if left the province of La Union as of 2 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 30, and has slightly weakened maximum winds of 125 kilometers per hour after passing through the rugged Northern Luzon, according to PAGASA, the country’s weather bureau.

As of its 5 p.m. update, forecasters said the eye of typhoon “Rosita” was located based on all available data at 125 km Northwest of Dagupan City, Pangasinan (16.8 °N, 119.5 °E ) at 4 p.m. Tuesday.

It is moving West Northwest at 25 kilometers per hour, with maximum sustained winds of 125 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 190 kph, down from the previous day’s maximum winds of 170 kph and gusts of up to 210 kph.

As of 5 p.m., only two provinces — Pangasinan and La Union — were still under tropical cyclone warning signal number 3.

Nine Luzon provinces were still under signal number 2, namely Abra, Ilocos Sur, Ifugao, Benguet, Mountain Province, Nueva Vizcaya, Nueva Ecija, Tarlac and Zambales.

Provinces previously under signal number 3, have now been downgraded to signal number 1. As of 5 p.m., there are still 15 areas under signal number 1, namely Ilocos Norte, Apayao, Kalinga, Cagayan, Isabela, Quirino, Aurora, Bulacan, Pampanga, Bataan, Metro Manila, Rizal, Cavite, Laguna, and Batangas.
