QUEZON City, Philippines (February 15)- The return of the hit-makers of 50’s and 60’s, the fabulous sounds of the Platters once again is ready to enthrall audiences with the hits “Only You”, “The Great Pretender”, “Twilight Time”, “Smoke Gets In Your Eyes”, “Harbor Lights” and more of their classics in their two night concert featuring Laurie Briggs as Karen Carpenter.
The Platters continue to remind the current generation of their distinctive smooth harmony and Motown style vocals. Countless shows have proven their loyalty and attachment to music and style of the previous generations of the iconic group.
This is the second time that the group will conduct a concert in Manila. Their last concert was a success, and due to popular demand, have been receiving requests to do more shows. “We are not a tribute group but the fourth generation of The Platters,” said Donne Ray Radford, the group’s front man and fourth generation member.
Included in this concert is the tribute performer of Karen Carpenter, Laurie Briggs. She’s been touring for 15 years as the other half of The Carpenters, her idol since she was eight years old. Relive the sound of the 70’s with the hits “Close to You”, “Masquerade”, “Top of the World”, “Sing”, “Rainy Days and Mondays”, “Superstar” and “Please Mr. Postman” to name a few.
The Love Playlist of Carpenters and Platters will be held on February 14, Sunday at the Midas Tent and on February 15, at KIA Theatre, Araneta Center. Both shows starts at 8 P.M.
