Some 402 classroom in Regions 4-A, 4-B and 5 are used as evacuation centers for TY Nina victims

QUEZON CITY, Dec. 28 (PIA) – About 402 classrooms in 118 schools in the TY Nina-affected Regions 4-A, 4-B and 5 are being used as evacuation centers for 4,050 displaced families or 15, 684 individuals.   This was gathered from the report of the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council released at 6:00 o’clock in the afternoon of December 26.   In Region 4-A or CALABARZON, 25 classrooms in 5 schools in the Division of Batangas are being used as the refuge of 233 families or 1,033 individuals. In the Division of Calamba City, three schools are now housing 2 families or 27 individuals while in the Division of Cavite, 2 schools are the evacuation centers for 11 families or 30 individuals. In Laguna, five schools serve as the evacuation centers for 22 families or 158 individuals; in Lucena City, one school is housing 48 families; while in the Division of Quezon, 39 classrooms in 12 schools serve as the evacuation centers for 380 families or 1,582 individuals.   In Region 4-B or MIMAROPA, 15 classroom in one school in the Division of Calapan City are being used as evacuation centers for 148 families or 517 individuals. Six classrooms in two schools in the Division of Occidental Mindoro are the refuge of 20 families or 73 individuals while twelve classroom in three schools in the Division of Oriental Mindoro are temporarily housing 6 families and 182 individuals.   Meanwhile, in the Bicol Region or Region 5, some 83 classroom in seven schools in Camarines Norte serve as the evacuation centers for 357 families or 1,260 individuals. Forty-two classrooms in 15 schools in Camarines Sur serve as the evacuation centers for 287 families or 1,091 individuals while 35 classrooms in 14 schools in Catanduanes serve as the refuge for 255 families or 640 individuals.   In the Division of Legazpi City, some 13 classroom in 14 schools serve as evacuation centers for 1,226 families or 4,471 individuals while in Ligao City, 82 classrooms in 15 schools are the evacuation centers for 856 families or 3,089 individuals.   In the Division of Masbate, six classrooms in three schools are used as evacuation centers for 11 families or 135 individuals while in Naga City Division, three schools serve as the evacuation centers for 27 families or 58 individuals. In Sorsogon, 26 schools in nine schools serve as the evacuation centers for 136 families or 634 individuals.   There are 27,085 families or 116,154 persons affected in 395 barangays in Regions V, VIII, CALABARZON and MIMAROPA, NDRRMC reported.   Evacuation was done in Regions CALABARZON, MIMAROPA, V and VIII. A total of 26,811 families or 114,933 persons have pre-emptively evacuated. Of which, 22,078 families or 93,271 persons are currently staying in 367 evacuation centres while1,206 persons or 5,243 families chose to stay with relatives or friends.
