Shabu from empty magnetic lifters found in Cavite may have reached Mindanao – PDEA

(Eagle News) – -The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) said that part of the huge shabu shipment taken from the magnetic lifters that were found in General Mariano Alvarez in Cavite, had not only spread in Metro Manila, but could have reached as far as Mindanao.

The announcement came after some illegal drugs that were seized in an operation in Mindanao showed similarities with the methamphetamine hydrochloride, locally known as shabu, that were confiscated from a Manila port in August.

Alvarez said they examined the shabu which they have seized in four areas of the country. Two of the areas were in Metro Manila, one was in Cavite, and another was in a part of Mindanao.

In all the four areas, the shabu there had a “high correlation” or similarity.

“Apat na lugar na ‘yan — dalawa sa [National Capital Region], isa sa part ng Cavite, isa sa part ng Mindanao. Nagkaroon kami ng drug impurity profiling ang lumabas doon, there’s a high correlation,” Alvarez said in a radio interview.

“High ang similarity nung drugs na nakuha natin sa MICP (Manila International Container Port) doon sa kumakalat na drugs. Ang ibig sabihin noon, iisa ang source, iisa ang manufacturing, the way it was produced was the same,” Aquino added.

The official said that empty magnetic lifters may have contained large quantities of shabu with a total market value of P6.8 billion.
