Senator Nancy Binay on Thursday said she would ask Senate President Koko Pimentel for a meeting on the possible conduct of a “refresher course” on proper decorum during an impeachment trial.

Binay made the pronouncement just as the House justice panel, voting 38-2, said there was probable cause to impeach Chief Justice Maria Lourdes Sereno.

Rep. Reynaldo Umali, panel chair, also slated the next hearing to March 14, at 9:30 a.m.

During that hearing, the panel is slated to tackle the committee report and the Articles of Impeachment that will be presented to the plenary, Umali said.

If there was a one third vote of all House members, the chamber will transmit the Articles of Impeachment to the Senate, which will convene as an impeachment court.

According to Binay, so far, she was planning to take a crash course in law at the University of Makati, where her father, former Vice President Jejomar Binay, was teaching law.

“Pero ako, ayoko sana (ng impeachment). May (Bangsamoro Basic Law), maraming madedelay. Ang proseso ng impeachment, divisive,” she said.
