President Duterte says he tapped Atong Ang to help PCSO

(Eagle News) — President Rodrigo Duterte on Wednesday said he asked gaming consultant Atong Ang to help in the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office once.

“I called him and I said, ‘Atong, you are the No. 1 gambler here in Davao. You are behind everything. Let’s not kid ourselves. Go to the PCSO, put an end to all that is illegal (there) and help the government,’” Duterte recounted prior to his departure to India.

He said he did this after Ang insisted on introducing jai alai in Davao.

At a Senate hearing into the alleged anomalies in the PCSO, Ang said he went to the PCSO on Sept. 14, 2017.

He, however, he said, did not get a warm reception from PCSO chair Jose Jorge Corpuz, who has since resigned.
