TAGUM CITY, Davao del Norte – – The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Siesmology on Monday (September 26) raised Alert Level 3 in Sitio Lower Mesolong, Brgy. Sto. Niño, Talaingod due to significant ground movement caused by the recent rainfall.

Eric Rosillo, planning and early warning head of the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Center, said that the alert level means that force evacuation must be implemented in the area.

Records from the PDDRMC also showed that this is the second time that Alert Level 3 was raised in Sitio Lower Mesolong; the first time was last year.

Talaingod Municipal Information Officer Phoebe Graza said that there are six families in Sitio Lower Mesolong and seven in Sitio Upper Mesolong that are directly affected by the ground movement.   Graza disclosed that they will be transferred to an area located still in Sitio Lower Mesolong but a river away from the disaster prone area.
