Pacquiao dedicates win against Matthysse to Filipinos; thanks “good” President Duterte

(Eagle News)– Manny Pacquiao on Sunday, July 15, thanked President Rodrigo Duterte for his support after his win against Argentina’s Lucas Matthysse  on Sunday, July 15.

“Thank you to my president, Rodrigo Roa Duterte who is watching this fight,” Pacquiao, an ally of Duterte in the Senate, said after his win via technical knockout in the seventh round.

The President flew to Malaysia to watch the highly-anticipated bout, and to meet with Malaysian Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad.

Duterte was seen accompanied by his son Sebastian and trusted aide Bong Go in the crowd.

“We have a good president, Rodrigo Roa Duterte. Thank you, Mr. President, for being our president,” Pacquiao said.

He also thanked Filipinos, many of whom watched him fight at the Axiata Arena.

“Mga Pilipino, maraming-maraming salamat, lalong-lalo na sa ating mahal na Pangulo. Filipino people, maraming salamat,” he said.

“To the Prime Minister Mahatir, thank you so much for your support and to the Malaysian government, thank you so much. And of course, to the Royal Family, thank you,” he added.
