MANILA (Eagle News) —  Ombudsman Conchita Carpio-Morales maintained that the issuance of the suspension order against Mayor Junjun Binay and 14 other officials of the Makati city government was in accordance with law and not due to any political pressure from the administration as alleged by Binay’s camp.

In a press briefing, Morales said she had always decided cases in accordance with the law and evidence.

The feisty ombudsman also said that she was never pressured by President Aquino or by the public’s expectation.

“Tell me if i have abused my authority! I have always decided cases in accordance with the law and evidence.   Hindi rin pwedeng ma-pe-pressure ka otherwise I shouldn’t be here,” Morales said.

Ombudsman Morales also dared the people criticizing her decision, to file a complaint for impeachment against her.

“If you feel that I am impeachable because I have done wrong, do so.   I don’t have to be impeached.  I will give my post on a silver platter,” Morales said.

The Ombudsman preventively suspended Mayor Binay and other Makati officials over the alleged overpricing of the Makati Science High School.
