(Eagle News) — Janet Lim Napoles has accused a raiding team of the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology of harassment.
Napoles made the accusation in an attempt to convince the Sandiganbayan, where she faces a plunder case in connection with the pork barrel scam, that she needed to be moved to a safehouse from Camp Bagong Diwa where she is detained.
According to the undated incident report submitted by Napoles, the incident took place on Oct. 12, 2017.
A raiding team, the report signed by officer of the day SJ01 Ruth Adorna and jail warden Chief Insp. Editha Balansay said, barged inside Napoles’ cell by cutting its lock with a bolt cutter.
“(A) body search was also conducted (on) the client by a male jail officer who (was) in full battle gear wearing a vest, Kevlar, with long firearms and a mask,” the report said.
It said the search–which was not coordinated—resulted in the confiscation of “personal belongings and important documents,” and the “cutting and disabling of the (closed-circuit television camera).”
Napoles, the alleged pork barrel scam queen, has been provisionally admitted to the Witness Protection Program.
The Department of Justice has said it was still assessing Napoles’ affidavit to determine whether she could be granted full WPP coverage.
