MRT operations are disrupted after train emits smoke

(Eagle News) — The operations of the Metro Rail Transit were disrupted on Friday afternoon, January 26, after a train started emitting smoke between the GMA-Kamuning and Araneta Center-Cubao stations.

Authorities said the smoke started at 1:42 PM.

Passengers were offloaded near Cubao station and were forced to walk toward the platform of the Araneta Center-Cubao Station.

The fire was contained at 2:15 p.m.

According to a report from the control center, the smoke came from under the seats where electronic components were located.

The MRT management is now conducting an investigation into the incident.
