Martial law critics dared to go to Mindanao

(Eagle News) – Critics of the extension of martial law in Mindanao were challenged to personally go there to see what is really happening in the region.

This was according to Senate President Vicente “Tito” Sotto III who offered this dare to those opposing martial law extension in Mindanao.

He said these critics should bring their arguments to Mindanao where they should explain why they are against it.

“I wish those against ML in Mindanao to go there and say there what they are saying here,” Sotto said.
“Kahit hindi tumira. Pumunta lang at duon magsalita ng kontra nila,” he added.

Congress on Wednesday approved the extension of martial law in Mindanao until December 31, 2019, as requested by President Rodrigo Duterte and his defense advisers.

For his part, Senator Sherwin Gatchalian said 23 groups or a total of 600 rebels and terrorists still present in Mindanao are still a big force to handle.

Based on the intelligence reports, among these terrorist groups are those responsible for the different bombings that took place in some parts of Mindanao.

Gatchalian said the presence of military and government forces in Mindanao would help stop foreign terrorists and separatist groups pushing to create a Wilayah or governorate in Mindanao.
