La Union town mayor, 2 others killed in ambush

(Eagle News)–The mayor of a La Union town and two others died after the vehicle he was riding was fired at by still-unidentified assailants on Monday, Oct. 1.

The fatalities were identified as Sudipen Mayor Alexander Buquing, driver Boni Depdepen, and security officer PO2 Rolando Juanbe.

Buquing and Juanbe were declared dead on arrival at the Ilocos Sur District Hospital in Tagudin, while Depdepen was declared dead on arrival in Lorma Medical Center in San Fernando City.

Also injured in the attack in Barangay Cadapli, Bangar past 6 p.m. was Buquing’s wife, Sudipen Vice Mayor Wendy Buquing.

She has been rushed to the hospital, where she is confined at press time.
