JUST IN: Liza Maza resigns as NAPC chair

(Eagle News)—Liza Maza has resigned as National Anti-Poverty Commission chair.

Maza made the announcement on Monday, Aug. 20,  after she and several others were ordered arrested for the death of Anakbayan supporters.

The charges were however dismissed, and the warrant voided.

In a statement, Maza said she was resigning as the incident “did take a toll” on her work at the NAPC.

She added another reason–and the main one at that–for her resignation was the cancelation of peace talks with the Communists.

She also noted the return of Speaker Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo and the Marcoses in the political scene.

She said she would resume “fighting on the streets,” as she thanked her colleagues at the NAPC.
