Japan donates 5 surveillance planes to the Philippines

QUEZON CITY, Philippines (Eagle News) –Japan has decided to donate the five surveillance planes that were previously being leased to the Philippines.

Defense spokesman Arsenio Andolong said that during the bilateral talks between the two countries last Monday (November 13), Japan decided to cancel the lease contract of the five airplanes and decided to officially donate the airplanes to the Philippines.

In their earlier agreement, a total of five TC-90 aircraft will be rented by the Philippines. However, Japan is now giving these to the Philippine government for free to support the country’s territorial and maritime air monitoring.

The first two aircraft arrived March 27 this year, while the additional three are expected to arrive March next year.
