BEIJING, China (Reuters) – A car hit a tricycle at a crossroads in Haimen City of east China’s Jiangsu Province on Wednesday, leaving the tricycle driver trapped underneath the car, as shown by footage from roadside monitoring cameras.

The car overturned on its side after hitting the tricycle and then trapped the elderly driver of the tricycle.

Many passers-by came over to help lift the car and pull out the trapped driver.

“The old man was stuck under the car, and we together lifted the car and rescued him out. Many people came to help. A long-distance bus stopped and several people got off to offer a helping hand,” said Zhang Weizhen, a villager who helped lifting the car.

The tricycle driver suffered several fractures but was in stable condition at the hospital.

“I was lucky that they saved me, or I’ll suffer much more serious injuries,” Zhu said.
