Former President Aquino to skip Duterte’s SONA; Robredo to attend

(Eagle News) — Former President Benigno Aquino III will not attend President Rodrigo Duterte’s third State of the Nation Address on Monday, July 23.

“President Aquino already sent regrets,” the Inter-Parliamentary Relations and Special Affairs Bureau (IPRSAB) of the House of Representatives said in a text message.

In a statement, Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque said it was Aquino’s decision.

It will have been the third time Aquino skips Duterte’s SONA.

Vice President Leni Robredo and former Senate Presidents Juan Ponce Enrile, among others, have confirmed their attendance, the IPRSAB said.
