President Duterte calls out communists; tells CPP founder Sison to “not abuse” Norway’s charity

(Eagle News) — President Rodrigo Duterte only had harsh words for the Communist Party of the Philippines and its founder Jose Maria Sison on Friday, even noting that he welcomed the end of peace talks with his former professor’s group if this was what they wanted.

“P***** i** mo Sison ka. Bully talaga ako. Umuwi ka na, marami nang gastos ang Norway. Sige bayad ng ospital sa iyo. You are there at their courtesy, do not abuse their charity,” he said in a press conference of the CPP founder, who he said suffers from colon cancer.

The President made the pronouncement days after members of the CPP’s armed group, the New People’s Army, ambushed a Presidential Security Group convoy in North Cotabato.

One person died and several others were injured in the incident.

“You cannot ambush me and ask to talk to me. Kung patay na ako sino kausapin mo? Crazy guys,” he said.

In his second State of the Nation Address, Duterte also chastised the communists, who he said kept on demanding from him.

Duterte also urged NPA members still fighting the government to lay down their arms, noting that they would not get anything out of the fighting.

Asked if him chastising the communists in public meant he was ending peace talks with them, Duterte said, “Yes, definitely.”

He said he welcomed the end of peace talks if this is what they wanted.
