(Eagle News) – Senator Antonio Trillanes IV said he is prepared for whatever will happen to him, describing himself as a “fatalist” but stressed that he also relies on the word of Senate President Vicente “Tito” Sotto III that no arrest will happen while he is inside the Senate premises.

“Tito Sotto is the most senior senator dito sa Senado in terms of service, 1992 pa senador na ‘yan. So, he values the institution, the traditions,” he told reporters late Thursday night.

“So I’m holding on to his word na hindi niya bibitawan ‘yun. And, I have no doubt in my mind na bibitawan niya ‘yun. Kasi senators outlast Presidents. Yun po ‘yun, that’s a fact.”

The senator who once led the Oakwood Mutiny of July 27, 2003 and the Manila Peninsula incident of November 29, 2007 has been holed up at the Senate since President Rodrigo Duterte’s Proclamation No. 527 that voided his amnesty was published in a newspaper. This was after the Senate President’s assurance that no arrest will be made while he in inside the Senate building.

But just the same, Trillanes said he is prepared for the worst.

Ako, I’m a fatalist kasi. Kaya I don’t worry about things I cannot control. But I prepare just the same.”

“Every experience negative or positive I believe strengthens me as a person, as an individual. And on to the next mission in life.”

Trillanes said that he had already made “step-by-step” instructions in the case of his arrest.

Nagbigay na ako ng protocols. So, step by step what to do ‘pag nangyari iyan,” he said.

So pagka ginawa ‘yun naman lahat, walang sigalot. So, hindi naman tayo caught flat footed. So yan po ano, from the staff, my family, everybody else,” he added.
