Faeldon says he was “clueless” about son’s alleged involvement in illegal drugs

(Eagle News) — Bureau of Corrections chief Nicanor Faeldon claimed he was “clueless” about the incident involving his son and namesake, Nicanor Jr., who was arrested in a Naga City drug raid.

“I am totally clueless on that incident, as neither my son nor the police authorities have contacted me,” Faeldon said in a press statement prepared by his legal team.

“I commend the Naga City police authorities on their efforts to curb if not totally eliminate illegal drugs,” he said in the statement.

Faeldon said that his 31-year old son was already old enough to fend for himself.

He said that he will “not lift a finger to influence the on-going investigation.”

“Let the axe fall where it may. Nicanor Jr. is already 31 years old, and has been on his own as an adult for years,” the statement from the Bucor chief’s legal team said.

Faeldon had earlier offered to resign if it would be proven that his son was indeed involved in illegal drugs.

He had already sent word to the Department of Justice of his intention to resign, or at least to go on leave while the investigation of his son is ongoing.

The press statement prepared by Faeldon’s legal team even claimed that the Bucor chief was prepared to take the necessary action against his son if it would be proven that he is a drug pusher.

“In any event, if the police investigation will show that my son, Nicanor Jr., is indeed a drug pusher and therefore a menace to society, then there will be no need to prosecute or to jail him. I will personally obliterate him from the face of the earth,” said the statement prepared by Faeldon’s legal counsel, Atty. Jose Dino Jr.

Faeldon had previously served as Customs commissioner when he was involved in the controversy regarding the P6.4 billion shabu shipment that slipped past the Bureau of Customs while he was its head in 2017.
