Entry of the Chinese telco in the country, a solution to slow internet service

QUEZON CITY, Philippines (Eagle News) — The entry of a telecommunication company from China will greatly help in the improvement of internet service in the Philippines.

According to Senate President Aquilino “Koko” Pimentel, the Philippines has the lowest and the most expensive internet in the ASEAN region.

Pimentel also said that because the internet is controlled by only two local telcos, the Filipinos virtually have no choice but to accept the expensive and slow service.

The entry of a new telco will spur competition that will bring prices down and improve internet service.  (report by Meanne Corvera, Eagle News Service)
