Enrile says Cory Aquino “did not know anything about governance”

Noynoy Aquino hits back: Enrile is not the expert in governance

(Eagle News) — For Former Senate President Juan Ponce Enrile, former President Cory Aquino “did not know anything about governance.”

Enrile made the comment in an interview with former Senator Bongbong Marcos, which was captured on video and uploaded in Marcos’ Facebook account.

Enrile served as former President Ferdinand Marcos’ defense secretary, but was among those who propped the widow of former Senator Ninoy Aquino to the presidency.

“When I joined the first Cabinet meeting with Cory, she did not make any decision,” Enrile said.

He said after Edsa, “she released all the leaders, even (Conrado) Balweg,” this despite them “emasculat(ing) the communists when we declared Martial Law.”

“I realized that the President did not know anything about governance,” he said, in explaining why he chose to switch sides afterwards.

But for former President Benigno Aquino III, it was Enrile who was “part of the misrule for such a long time.”

“He is not the expert in terms of governance,” he said.
