Duterte wants contract of service provider behind luggage theft incident in Clark airport terminated

(Eagle News) — President Rodrigo Duterte has ordered airport officials to terminate the contract of aviation service provider MIASCOR following a complaint by an Overseas Filipino Worker his luggage was opened and its contents stolen by baggage handlers at the Clark International Airport.

“Kung sino ‘yung provider, service provider diyan, you terminate the contract and look for another one. And so for the other airports in the country, I do not want it repeated ever again,” Duterte said in a meeting with Clark airport officials on Thursday.

The transcript of the meeting was released to reporters on Friday.

In the meeting attended by Jovinal Dela Cruz, who made the complaint, Duterte also required the airport authorities to “make amends.”

“So I would also demand that the airport authorities should call the complainant and…maybe in public, to apologize for the sloppy job that we are doing,” he said.

He said the one in-charge should also raise the amount which Dela Cruz said was the worth of the items that were stolen from him.

Earlier, CIAC officials  said six employees MIASCOR  were terminated following the incident.
