Duterte to “reiterate PHL principled positions” on South China Sea, other issues

(Eagle News)–President Rodrigo Duterte will “reiterate the Philippines’ principled positions on matters concerning the South China Sea and transnational and transboundary issues..,” Malacañang said on Tuesday, Nov. 13.

According to the Palace, these issues include “terrorism, violent extremism, trafficking in persons, illicit drugs and disaster risk reduction and management.”

The Palace said the Philippines was looking forward to “discussions on regional and global developments that impact regional peace, security and stability.”

Since President Duterte assumed office, he has set aside the Permanent Court of Administration’s decision that nullified China’s claims over almost the entire South China Sea, and has sought friendly relations with the Philippines’ neighbor instead.
