Duterte thanks Japan for being the “number one” country helping the Philippines

(Eagle News) – President Rodrigo Duterte thanked the Japanese people and the Japanese government for all the help extended to the Philippines, including the work given to many Filipinos in Japan.

Duterte was warmly welcomed by Filipinos in Japan on Wednesday night, when he spoke to them, saying they were important to him.
But before his speech, he extended his thanks to the Japanese people.

“First of all, I’d like to extend my gratitude to the Japanese people and government for hosting to many Filipinos and providing them work, gainfully employed in the country of Japan. Maraming salamat po,” he said to the applause of the Filipino workers in Japan.

Duterte explained that Japan was the number one country which provided a lot of help to the Philippines, with billions of pesos being provided as aid to the Philippines.

“Bilyon, bilyon ang binibigay sa atin. So for the second time, salamat po,” he said.
