Astronauts display daily duties in ultra high resolution

JUNE 17 (Reuters) — NASA released an ultra high resolution video on Monday (June 15) displaying the life of astronauts through a remarkably clear lens.

The video quality and new filming capability is called 4K Ultra High-Definition, or UHD video.

According to NASA, the new and improved video resolution will enable researchers to gain new insight into the experiments performed aboard the space station with improved clarity.

But perhaps more exciting to the senses than the experiments themselves are the stunning views of earth captured by this new technology, and offers a glimpse of what it’s like to look down at earth from above.

The video also exposed how astronauts manage to make a meal in space, with American Terry Virts, who returned to earth before the video was released, preparing a ‘space burger’ only to toss a piece of floating meat into his mouth.

Three astronauts aboard ISS during filming landed safely in the steppes of Kazakhstan on Thursday (June 11), ending their 199-day mission after an unexpected “bonus month” aboard the International Space Station, NASA said.

Russian cosmonaut Anton Shkaplerov, followed by Samantha Cristoforetti of the European Space Agency and Expedition 43 Commander Terry Virts of NASA, were the trio who made it back to earth.

Having tested out the new UHD video, some of the memories from their mission in space will be chronicled with clarity never seen before.
