(Eagle News) — Newly installed Philippine National Police Chief Oscar Albayalde wants police provincial and city directors to conduct surprise inspections in the police stations within their areas of jurisdiction.

“As much as I enjoy conducting surprise inspections, I may not be able to reach all of our 2,766 police stations nationwide,” Albayalde said during PNP change of command ceremonies on Thursday, April 19.

He said he “expect(s) our Provincial and City Directors to conduct these surprise inspections to regularly assess the operational readiness of our forces on the ground.”

He said he also expects the directors to be “accessible anytime of the day,” in the same way he will be “accessible 24/7.”

As National Capital Region Police Office chief, Albayalde would make surprise inspections in police stations in Metro Manila, and would berate his men he would catch asleep while they were on duty.
