AFP believes terrorist groups in PHL grooming new leaders

(Eagle News) — The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) is convinced that the terrorist groups in the country are grooming new leaders.

Joint Task Force Ranao Deputy Commander Romeo Brawner Jr. said that a Malaysian terrorist, Amin Baco, is on top of the list to replace Isnilon Hapilon and Omar Maute, but they are not sure if he is still alive.

Brawner said that they are still comparing DNA samples recovered from a cadaver in Marawi City, with DNA samples from Baco’s relatives in Malaysia to confirm if he is indeed already dead.

Also in the list is a certain Owaida Benito Marahombsar, alias Abu Dahr, who is said to have left Marawi City to conceal the gold and money they robbed from the homes of residents in the city which they intended to use for their recruitment.

The others in the list are Ali Amintao, alias White Lawaan, who is the former financier of the Maute terror group; Zacaria Romato, an uncle of the Maute brothers; and a foreign-trained terrorist, Najib Calimba Pundog, who is said to be very close to Maute.
