(Eagle News) — The Philippine National Police will look into the simultaneous overnight drug raids that left 21 people killed in Bulacan recently.
Quoting PNP spokesperson Dionardo Carlos, Presidential Spokesperson Ernesto Abella said the PNP-Internal Affairs Service investigation was “a matter of procedure.”
“The arresting officers claimed they were met with armed resistance while conducting said enforcement operations,” he said.
He said the “wide-ranging” raids coincided with Bulacan’s 439th foundation day.
Senior Superintendent Romeo Caramat of the Bulacan provincial police said the big-time operation from Monday to Tuesday saw police holding 26 buy-bust operations, and serving two search warrants.
He said the raids yielded 64 arrests.
He said the police were also able to seize 100.25 grams of suspected shabu, 17 revolvers, two improvised shotguns, a 9mm pistol, and a caliber .32 pistol.
