70% of Filipinos believe Duterte performed better as president than Aquino — SWS survey

(Eagle News) – Up to 70 percent of Filipinos nationwide believe that President Rodrigo Duterte performed better as the country’s president, so far in the past one year and a half that he is in office, compared to former President Benigno “Noynoy” Aquino III’s full six year term.

This was according to the latest survey of the Social Weather Station based on a poll conducted from December 8, 2017 to December 16, 2017.

Based on the survey results, first reported by DZBB, 70 percent of those surveyed believed Duterte performed better as president than his predecessor Aquino did in his six years in office, or from July 2010 to June 2016.

Only eight percent believed that Aquino was a better president, while 22 percent said their performance was the same.

Based on the survey results, 73 percent of those asked in Metro Manila believed that Duterte was better than Aquino as a president, while 63 percent in Luzon, 64 percent in the Visayas, and 86 percent in Mindanao were also of the same opinion.

The survey also showed that in Metro Manila or the National Capital Region, only 10 percent were of the opinion that Aquino performed better as president, and only nine percent in Luzon and the Visayas also said the same thing. In Mindanao, only 3 percent believed Aquino was a better president that Duterte.

The respondents were asked this question: Kung ikukumpara ang pagganap ni Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte sa kanyang tungkulin mula Hulyo 2016 sa pagkaganap ni dating Pangulong Aquino mula Hulyo 2010 hanggang Hulyo 2016, masasabi n’yo ba na: PRRD is better, the same, (or) PNoy is better?

 

The survey also reported that majority of Filipinos (69 percent) believed Duterte’s actions were appropriate for his position as the president.

They were asked: “Sa kabuuan, ang mga kilos ba ni Pangulong Duterte ay angkop o hindi angkop sa isang pangulo?”

To this question, only 18 percent said that Duterte’s actions were inappropriate, while 13 percent said that they were undecided on the matter.
