Panelo admits it took long before he got rides but maintains there is no “mass transit crisis”

(Eagle News)–Presidential Spokesperson Salvador Panelo on Friday, Oct. 11, admitted it took long before he got rides during his commute to the Palace, but maintained there was no “mass transit paralysis.”

In an interview over radio dzbb during his commute, Panelo said  it took him five, 10, and 20 to 35 minutes, respectively, before he could ride one of each of the three different jeepneys he took.

“Matagal ako bago nakasakay kasi puno eh, palaging puno,” he said.

He said he left Marikina at 5:15 a.m.

He arrived at the Palace past 8 a.m.

Panelo, however, maintained there was “no mass transit paralysis.”

Earlier, Panelo said Filipinos could leave earlier if they wanted to get to their destinations earlier.

In the interview, he said Filipinos are a “very creative people.”

“When we’re confronted with a situation na (that is) hostile, we adjust. ‘Yan ang pagka-malikhain ng Pilipino,” he said.

Panelo commuted to the Palace after leftist group Bayan challenged him to do so following his remark there was no mass transit crisis in Metro Manila.

Bayan had made the claim following the disruptions in the operations of the Light Rail Transit 1 and 2 and the Metro Rail Transit 3 in recent days.
