(Eagle News)–The Manila International Airport Authority on Tuesday, Aug. 13, lauded one of its airport janitors after he returned a lost bag containing at least P400,000 to its owner.

MIAA General Manager Ed Monreal hailed Sixto Brillante, Jr., who is assigned to clean the bathroom near  the arrival immigration of the Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 1, for his honesty.

Brillante had been directed to the black sling bag by a passenger in the bathroom on Aug. 10.

When Brillante failed to locate the owner through its paging system, he went straight to the Lost and Found section and left it there.

An inventory showed the bag contained  EUR 7,300, more or less P430, 000. K

Also in the bag was a wallet and an Ipad.

An hour and a half later, a Turkish national claimed the bag.

“Maaari na sanang itago ni Mr. Brillante ang bag at magpakasaya sa laman nito ngunit pinili pa rin nya ang isauli ito. Hinahangaan ko ang kanyang integridad,” Monreal said.

He urged all NAIA employees to always be honest.

“Ang paggawa ng tama kailanman ay hindi dapat maging option. Dapat natin itong isabuhay sa araw-araw, ” Monreal said.
