106 volcanic quakes monitored in Bulusan in last 24 hours: PHIVOLCS

(Eagle News) — Over 100 volcanic earthquakes were monitored in Bulusan in the last 24 hours.

According to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology, the 106 volcanic earthquakes included 48 volcanic tremors lasting 20 minutes.

Sulfur dioxide emissions were also pegged at 4627 tons/day and a strong plume steam reaching 500 meters high was also monitored.

PHIVOLCS reminded the public about the ban on the entry into the 4-kilometer radius permanent danger zone.

It also cautioned against flying aircraft close to the volcano.

On June 5, a phreatic eruption was detected in the volcano, prompting PHIVOLCS to raise the volcano’s alert level from zero to 1.

Over the weekend, another phreatic eruption was detected.
