The Philippine Overseas Employment Administration included the information regarding the Zika virus in its pre-departure orientation seminar for overseas Filipino workers.
According to the POEA, this is the only step that it can currently take as it is still waiting for the alert level to be issued by the Department of Health and the Department of Foreign Affairs before it can implement a deployment ban.
The Zika virus is currently affecting areas in central and Latin America, as well as the Pacific Islands.
