PNP to file raps vs blogger Drew Olivar over Edsa bomb post

(Eagle News)– Philippine National Police Chief Oscar Albayalde on Monday, Sept. 24, said charges would be filed against blogger Drew Olivar for his Edsa bomb post.

According to Albayalde, Olivar would be charged for violation of Presidential Decree 1727.

Presidential Decree 1727 declares as “unlawful the malicious dissemination of false information or the willful making of any threat concerning bombs, explosives or any similar device or means of destruction.”

“Ay nakakatakot naman magrally sa Edsa, kasi may kumakalat na baka maulit daw ‘yung pagbomba kagaya ng Plaza Miranda! Kung ako sa inyo hindi na ako pupunta,” Olivar had said in a Facebook post, referring to the Sept. 21 rally in Luneta, Manila in commemoration of the 46th anniversary of the declaration of martial law.

Olivar has apologized for his post, but noted that he only wished to inform the public.

Olivar and his friend, Assistant Secretary Mocha Uson, are facing a separate complaint for their video in which he was seen making squeaking sounds and hand gestures.

The complaint was filed by members of the deaf community.
